MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGE: REST & RELAX FOR 30 MINUTES!

It's important that we are intentional about relaxing.  Relaxing is not just about taking a break from tasks, it is about letting our mind, body, and soul return to a state of rest.  Rest and relaxation should not take all day.  Just 30 minutes of intentional rest and relaxation can give us the rest we need. Here are some steps to help you when resting and relaxing is tough:

1.      Focus on how your body feels. Where are you tense?  Constrict and relax that area of your body.

2.      Focus on your emotion.  Name the emotion and identify what triggered it.

3.      Use grounding techniques to help you stay present in the here and now.

4.      Use breathing techniques and other physical exercises

5.      Pray

6.      Take a nap

7.      Lay down, close your eyes and go to your happy place

8.      Journal
